DR. ABDUL KALAM'S WINGS OF FIRE INSPIRE DAVIANS All hearts skipped a beat and the wheel of time stopped as the students and staff of
DAV Public School, Sahibabad stood witness to a historical moment, when Dr. A.P.J.
Abdul Kalam, Ex. President of India and a noted visionary visited the school at around
3.00 p.m. on September 3, 2011. The school had been preparing for this memorable
moment for quite some time. Dr. Abdul Kalam was cheered by the jubilant students of
the junior wing as they stood with expectant eyes from the school gate to the venue of
the programme. This was followed by a standing ovation by the entire school swaying
at a musical welcome programme by the junior wing. The dignitary was presented with
bouquets of flowers and mementoes as a token of wholehearted regard for him. The
Manager of the school, Mrs. Sudha Chandra gave a welcome speech to commemo rate
the occasion. It was a proud moment for around 60 meritorious toppers of the school
from classes IX-XII, when they received special awards from Dr. Abdul Kalam. Keeping
with the tradition of service to society, a group of 10 toppers who are underprivileged
and physically and visually challenged from various government schools in and around
Ghaziabad, were felicitated by the Ex. President of India on this occasion. The star
attraction of the day was a rousing speech by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to motivate the
students with oaths to render fruitful service to the nation. The programme culminated
with a vote of thanks by Dr. V. Singh, the Principal of the school. |
